It was very easy to search videos on YouTube. I was pleased to see students demonstrating some math concepts. I definitely want to do some more research on this. I found a YouTube video about how to add using Touch Math. I think this would be a great resource for some of my students' parents. This would provide a quick explanation of what I taught and how they can help practice at home! (By the way, thanks Mrs. Burling for putting such great instructions for embedding on your blog!)
I also found a video in which an author, R. L. LaFevers, is being interviewed. On of my small groups is reading a book by this author right now! I think that they would really enjoy hearing from the author!
I learned that many things are considered "fair use" if you re-purpose them or don't copy an entire collection or entire work. You can use many things if they are being published to a secure location.
I searched some pictures on Picasa. Some of my students have been typing facts about what they learned about animals they read about. I have only used Google Images in the past, so it was wonderful to learn about another resource. I, like Mrs. Burling, did not find the "remix filter" option. I'm actually not exactly sure what that even means!
Once again I am excited by the possiblities!
I'll be glad to look at the remix option with you some other time. So many of our students already are use to searching for pictures on Google Images so why not teach them how to use the Advanced Search option and set it for pictures approved for reuse? You are doing great, keep going.
ReplyDeleteI finally got to tool 2 posting comments. Glad to see you are liking the You Tube videos .My student like them also and have found some very good ones for speech.
